Free workshop: how to build off grid solar systems (1/2)

16th March 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Small set of rooftop solar panels

Interested in making a 100% off-grid small solar system for sheds, workshops, trucks, or vans?

In this introductory workshop you will learn how to plan your off grid system, and what materials and tools you’ll need to build it. You’ll also learn about the different components of an off grid solar system and where to source them from.

This workshop is aimed at all levels and you don’t need a technical background to understand it.

Please follow this link to book your place.

Note: this is an information and discussion workshop, not a practical demonstration.

This workshop will be facilitated by Arran Allison, the Green Handyman for Energise Sussex Coast. Arran lives off-grid himself and has been building off grid workshops for over 20 years – building solar systems to power stages at festivals as well as small solar projects. Arran is self taught and wants to share the knowledge and skills he’s learnt along the way.

This is the first of two workshops facilitated by Arran. The second workshop on 30th March will focus on how to size an off grid system, and is for people who have made the decision to build a system and need to go through the process of sizing it.

This event is hosted by Energise Sussex Coast with the help of Warm this Winter and the National Lottery Community Fund.
