We hold regular weekly or bi weekly “energy health check” cafes in deprived neighbourhoods in Hastings.
We focus on vulnerable e.g. older people, those with mental and physical disabilities or illness, marginalised or migrant communities, young families, and those on low incomes who are in fuel poverty.
We provide a free bill checking and warm home support service saving residents money by switching suppliers, help with accessing debt relief and other schemes such as the Warm Home discount and fitting soft measures in their homes (LED lights, power down plugs, draft proofing etc).
We monitor any improvement in mental health and well being as a result of the measures installed. Our partners include Citizens Advice and the Seaview Charity for the homeless providing complementary services.
We also organise community events alongside our energy cafes with singing, swap shops, and a community chef demonstrating how to make delicious meals from old bread.
