Energy Advisers give advice to help local residents bring down their energy and water bills.
In this role, you will be out in the community giving advice to help people save money and energy. You will also support local residents on the telephone and answer incoming calls to our Energy Advice helpline. You will support the Senior Energy Advisers by filling in grant application forms to charities for residents who need white goods and other household items.
This job will be a mixture of community based in Hastings, Rother and Eastbourne and office or home based. We will pay for travel costs for any community work e.g. train travel to a community centre.
– Good verbal communication – you must enjoy talking to and helping people. You must be confident talking to people on the phone. – Friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. – A good standard of written English – ideally a good pass in English GCSE C or 4 or above) or an Alevel in a humanties subject. – Good IT skills including Excel. – Good administration skills – you will be doing lots of data input into forms and spreadsheets. – A good team player but also happy to work from your own initiative – we are a small and very busy team. We need someone that is happy to manage their own workload and take the initiative on their own work when needed. – An interest in climate change and energy saving.
Kickstart Employability support:
You will be given full training to enable you to be an Energy Adviser. This includes training in the different ways we help people save money from their bills and training in how to use our different systems. After completing this placement you will have the skills needed to apply for future Energy Advisor roles and strong experience for other community advisor roles. After your training, you will shadow the other Energy Advisers and learn on the job with them. Eventually, you will support your own clients with Energy Advice..
