Future of Energy Workshop (morning session) with Sussex Coast College Students

Join this free workshop and help shape the future for young people in Hastings and Rye. Places for this morning session are limited.

• Liam O’Sullivan, Head of UK Power Networks’ capital delivery programme
• Barbara Whiting, Head of Stakeholder Engagement for the south east gas network (SGN)
• Professor Audley Genus, Professor of Innovation at Kingston University
• Jane Ollis, Kent Chair of the Institute of Directors.

Come to the Creative Café to share your great green ideas for the town and question the expert panel.

11.00-12.30 Creative Café

Objectives – to inspire and motivate young people to think about jobs in energy related fields and to get them thinking about good green ideas.

11.00 Welcome – outline of the event

11.10 Icebreaker: a short activity focused on our energy use, answers written or drawn on a paper table cloth. Future of Energy champion talks about their job/role and its relation to energy issues and the three themes ( Education, Innovation, vulnerability)

11.15 Students move on to two more tables spending 5 minutes at each to find out more about what the energy champions do – what their job looks like, how people get into their line of work etc

11.25 Future of Energy champions introduce themselves to the whole room. Why are they passionate about energy? What are the big challenges they face?

11.40 Big ideas for Green Great Britain week; students choose to spend half an hour at one table to work up ideas for Green Great Britain week. Champions role is to i) elicit ideas the students have been working on ii) to share with the group their burning energy issues and iii) together to identify one or two ideas you’d like to work up and share.
